Foodies can flock to the food booths where local restaurants will offer their signature dishes. Last year I liked the Markethouse Restaurant’s very tasty pulled pork sandwich and cornbread. I also liked the steak sandwich at Sullivan’s Steakhouse and The Melting Pot’s fondue.

Last year, Kendall College sent some of their future chefs to the event. There will be cooking demonstrations by top chefs and samples from gourmet food companies. Take time to stroll through the lovely gardens at Grant Park. Our city planners attempted to make Grant Park a “Paris on the Prarie”. This is a great “Vino con Vista” Venue!

F00d and wine devotees will converge upon Lake Placid; a lovely village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York. This will be the 7th-annual Adirondack Festival of Food and Wine. This year’s theme will be “The Culinary Melting Pot of Taste.”
There is a Festival of Food and Wine package for the 7th-annual Lake Placid event. Participants will enjoy wine tastings, seminars, interactive food demonstrations and tastings, a grand tasting reception, a seven-course dinner and admission to a cooking competition. Guest chefs will prepare international delicacies using flavorful locally-grown Adirondack meats and cheeses in the Inn’s Adirondack-themed private dining room.

The 8th Annual Savor Dallas Food and Wine Festival 2012 will take place on March 30th and 31st, 2012. This is the largest premium wine, food and spirits event in Texas with over 60 of the area’s top chefs and more than 400 premium wines, spirits and beers. There will even be a concert! All of the events are fund-raisers for local organizations.
Following the Wine Stroll, “Sips and Sounds” ($35) is scheduled at the historic Kessler Theater in the Bishop Arts District from 8-midnight with recording artist Carrie Rodriguez and tasty sips and bits from Oak Cliff Chefs.
There will be a “Great Women Chefs” ($99) event at the Milestone Culinary Arts center in Uptown Dallas on Saturday March 31st from 11:30-1:30 led by Chef Sharon Van Meter. The ticket includes a copy of the “Cooking with Les Dames D’Escoffier” cookbook.
On Saturday, you can also enjoy a Wine and Scardello Artisan Cheese seminar for $55 at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek or a Wine Panel Tasting seminar at the Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas with Master Sommeliers James Tidwell and Drew Hendricks. ($50)
The main event will be held on Saturday, March 31st at the Irving Convention Center at 500 W. Las Colinas Boulevard. The VIP Reserve Tasting is on Saturday from 5-6:30 ($125) and will feature ultra-premium wines. This event will lead into the International Grand Tasting ($100) from 7-10 pm with top chefs serving plenty of food and drinks. There will be a silent auction to benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

The Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine Program is a series of Global Food and Wine Events. These culinary weekend workshops are available at Park Hyatt hotels. Park Hyatt chefs and sommeliers lead masters-in-training quarterly classes. Park Hyatt Masters events take place on the following dates: January 13-15; March 23-25; June 22-24 and September 21-23, 2012.
Here’s how it works. The Park Hyatt chefs and sommeliers lead masters-in-training seminars in different types of
“hands-on courses” on the designated day:
(1) In the Field: Interaction with artisanal food or beverage purveyors
(2) In the Kitchen: Onsite cooking, prep workshops, and specialty tastings and
(3) In the Moment: Tips on service and presentation.
Here’s a list of some of the activities from the website:
• Park Hyatt Maldives will host a fishing excursion led by the hotel’s Executive Chef and resident Marine Biologist. The following day, guests will collect local produce on a farm on a nearby island. After returning to the resort, they will learn regional cooking techniques and will enjoy a traditional Maldivian meal prepared with the fresh ingredients caught and collected.
• Park Hyatt Washington will host a local microbrew tasting with the brew masters at PortCity Brewing Company, a winter tea blend tasting with Certified Tea Master Rodrick Markus, and an intimate cooking class with Blue Duck Tavern Chef de Cuisine John Melfi highlighting the season’s best ingredients.
• Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi will host an excursion to a local date farm. Following the excursion, guests are invited to a cooking class led by the culinary team where they will learn to prepare the region’s famous hot and cold mezza as well as delicious Arabic sweets.
• Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is partnering with ski legend Chris Anthony and Silver Oak Cellars to host a weekend of great skiing, delicious food, and decadent wine. Après-ski, enjoy tasty Colorado cuisine prepared by 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill’s Executive Chef, Christian Apetz, and a reserve wine tasting led by Silver Oaks.
