Plan to attend the 30th Annual California Wine Tasting Championships 2012 in the coastal ridge tops of the beautiful Anderson Valley.
WHEN: Saturday, July 28, 2012
WHERE: Greenwood Ridge Vineyards
The Anderson Valley is located 15 miles long. It is located in the rolling hills of the coastal region of Mendocino County, about two hours north of San Francisco. This gorgeous valley is the home of vineyards and wineries producing a broad range of excellent wines; known for world class Pinot Noir and Alsace Varietals.
Here’s how it works:
“Samples of eight California wines appear at your table. It’s your job to identify each varietal. Is it Zin? Or Cabernet? We make it easy by giving you a list of ten common varietals from which to choose. You make your guesses and we reveal the identity of each wine. In the doubles competition, you and your partner can compare notes before making your decisions. Sign up in the category that fits: novice, amateur or professional. How do you know which one to enter? It’s up to you. Novices are tasting beginners, amateurs have graduated from Two Buck Chuck, and pros are usually involved in the wine industry. Everyone is welcome to take advantage of our complimentary Wine Tasting Boot Camp, where you’ll get tips to boost your confidence and your score. If you’re one of the top three finishers in the amateur or pro division you advance to the Grand Championship round. Ties are broken by “sudden death” taste-offs, offering dramatic entertainment for the spectators. Top finishers in each division will receive personalized certificates, great prizes, and recognition in our fall newsletter.” Included with the wine tasting competitions are chocolate and cheese tasting contests, as well as a series of wine-friendly snacks served throughout the day.
