WHEN: May 18, 19 and 20, 2012 in Sonoma County’s majestic Alexander Valley appellation.

More than 30 wineries will open their vineyards, wineries and tasting rooms for guests. Enjoy the latest releases of world class wines from grapes grown in the fertile Alexander Valley.

The opening celebration on Friday is at the exclusive 53-acre hillside vineyard of the  Lancaster Estate Winery at the southermost tip of the ALexander Valley www.lancaster-estate.com. From 5-8 pm, the outdoor celebration will feature reserve and library wines from throughout the Valley. Guests can mingle with local vintners, growers and winemakers.

Notable local guest chefs will include Josh Silvers of Jackson’s Bar & Oven and Petite Syrah Bistro; as well as, Jeff Mall of Zin Restaurant & Wine Bar; and Carlo Cavallo of Meritage Sonoma.

Mount Vernon, is a Georgian structure that is located near Alexandria Virginia. It was George Washington’s plantation home and is a National Historic Landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neoclassical structure is located on the banks of the Potomac River.

At the Spring Wine Festival, there will be candlelit tours of the mansion with live jazz on the east lawn overlooking the Potomac. Visit the wine cellar and learn about George Washinton’s passion for wine.

The annual festival Nantucket Wine Festival begins with a Harbor Gala! The Gala will be held at the White Elephant Hotel on Thursday, May 17th at 6:00 pm.

Tastings showcase more than 200 wineries, chefs, and food  purveyors. The Grand Tasting will be held at the newly renovated Nantucket Yacht Club.

Luncheon Symposia will unfold with a one-hour  symposium at some of the best addresses in Nantucket featuring distinguished winemakers who will lead a discussion of their wines. Each of these events will be  limited to 30-60 people. Immediately after the symposium, the guests will be treated to a four-course luncheon of superb cuisine featuring  the wines of the guest winemakers.

Celebrity Chef & Winemaker Auction Dinner will be held at the White Elephant, followed by an auction of rare wines. This event will be held on Saturday, May 19th, at 7:00 pm. at the White Elephant. This dinner will feature the cuisine of Executive Chef Bernard Guillas of The Marine Room in San Diego and Executive Chef Frederick Bisaillon of the Brant  Point Grill. Dinner will be paired with the wines of Veuve Clicquot and Numanthia.  The Auction benefits the Nantucket Historical Association.  Tickets are $250  per  person.

Rockin’ Rivertown 2012 Music and Arts Festival in Conway South Carolina

Attend the Rivertown Music and Arts Festival 2012. The 26th annual event will be held in historic downtown Conway, South Carolina. Many buildings and structures located in Conway are on the National Register of Historic Places. The City Hall building was  designed by Robert Mills, the architect of the Washington Monument. Conway’s downtown area has been revitalized with shops and bistroswith a Riverwalk along the Waccamaw River.

The free annual event has been held on the first Friday in May for the last 26 years. Blankets and lawn chairs will converge on the edge of the Waccamaw River as locals and visitors gather for entertainment from local and regional bands.
