Vineyard to Vitner 2012: Wine Weekend in Stags Leap

There are 18 member wineries in Stags Leap participating in “Vineyard to Vitner.” This wine district is located in the eastern portion of the Napa Valley. “This area benefits from cool Pacific breezes, long, dry summer days and unique volcanic soils with overlays of bale loam.” The appellation’s unique conditions of soil, climate and exposure are reflected in the excellence of its wines.

The Stags Leap District produces wines critically acclaimed for their lush fruit and soft tannins. A  longer growing season of warm days and cool nights is perfect for late-maturing varietals like Cabernet. This district of Napa is comprised of 2,700 acres with about 1,200 acres planted. The signature varietal of the Stags Leap District is Cabernet Sauvignon.

This 3-day celebration of the Stags Leap District gives visitors access to all eighteen member wineries. You can purchas exclusive backstage passes to winery open-houses, four  intimate vintner-hosted dinners and a Stags Leap District Cabernet seminar  hosted by Saveurmagazine’s David Rosengarten.

Top Chefs Display Culinary Prowess at South Beach BBQ Marathon

The South Beach Wine and Food Festival had a kick-off event for the South Beach Foodie Marathon 2012 called “Q”. The BBQ extravaganza highlighted top chefs and their culinary prowess. Restaurants across the nation participated in this fabulous event. The event was held at the glitzy Ritz Carlton‘s “Delano” Beachside venue at 1685 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.

The event was presented by Allen Brothers Steaks and hosted by Emeril Lagasse and Guy Fieri featuring plenty of Moet & Chandon Champagne and the best BBQ chefs from across the nation. The chefs prepared and served their signature barbecue specialties from the grills and smokers.

Guy Fieri co-owns five restaurants in California. He served a Panh Mi Taco with BBQ fried rice from his Tex Wasabi Restaurant.

The Regis put out an impressive spread. Richard Gras and Jordi Valles from the J & G Grill at the St. Regis Bal Harbour whipped up a smoked Lamb Shoulder with Brussel Sprouts, Toasted Sesame and five spices. Then the chef took some time off to open a bottle of champagne-le sabrage (with a sword). Nice job Chef!!

That Lamb was incredible!

Returning to the festival is award winning sensation and internationally renowned jazz saxophonist Dave Koz  with special guest Patti Austin performing with accomplished drummer Dave Weckl.

This part of South Africa has a vibrant wine industry. The wines of the Western Cape range from Rhone-style red wines to aromatic Sauvignon Blancs. The Cape Winelands and their cultural landscape were added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on June 24, 2004 in the Cultural category.

The Cape Winelands are the largest wine-producing region in South Africa with six main wine routes: Constantia, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Robertson and Wellington. These are popular destinations for sightseeing and wine tasting.

Surfing is very popular and so is Whale watching. Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales are seen off the coast during the breeding season from August to November.

Bryde’s Whales and the Killer Whales can be seen any time of the year.  Heaviside’s dolphins can be seen from the coast north of Cape Town and Dusky dolphins live along the same coast and can occasionally be seen from the ferry to Robben Island.

The 8th Annual Savor Dallas Food and Wine Festival 2012 will take place on March 30th and 31st, 2012. This is the largest premium wine, food and  spirits event in Texas with over 60 of the area’s top chefs and more than 400 premium wines, spirits and beers. There will even be a concert! Following the Wine Stroll, “Sips and Sounds” ($35) is scheduled at the historic Kessler Theater in the Bishop Arts District from 8-midnight with recording artist Carrie Rodriguez and tasty sips and bits from Oak Cliff Chefs.

There will be a “Great Women Chefs” ($99) event at the Milestone Culinary Arts center in Uptown Dallas on Saturday March 31st  from 11:30-1:30 led by Chef Sharon Van Meter. The ticket includes a copy of the “Cooking with Les Dames D’Escoffier” cookbook.

On Saturday, you can also enjoy a Wine and Scardello Artisan Cheese seminar for $55 at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek or a Wine Panel Tasting seminar at the Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas with Master Sommeliers James Tidwell and Drew Hendricks. ($50)

The main event will be held on Saturday, March 31st at the Irving Convention Center at 500 W. Las Colinas Boulevard. The VIP Reserve Tasting is on Saturday from 5-6:30 ($125) and will feature ultra-premium wines. This event will lead into the International Grand Tasting ($100) from 7-10 pm with top chefs serving  plenty of food and drinks. There will be a silent auction to benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

Another celebrity chef that is participating in the extravaganza is Manu Feildel. Manu is known for his participation in Australia’s cooking competitios like Ready Steady Cook, Masterchef Australia and My Kitchen Rules. He was the head chef at Bilson’s before opening his own restaurant, Manu at L’Etoile, in 2009. He also won Dancing with the Stars 2011.

The Fiji Festival will have dinners hosted by celebrity chefs each evening and Master Classes and cooking demonstrations with a daily happy hour and evening entertainment.

Attend the Food and Wine Festival Palm Desert 2012 with a stellar gathering of culinary stars from the Food Network and James Beard winners. The 3-day culinary celebration is scheduled for March 23-25, 2012.

More than 50 fine dining restaurants and over 80 premium wine brands from around the world will participate in the event at this sunny, world-class golf mecca in the heart of Southern California’s famed Coachella Valley. Notable chefs such as Sara Moulton, Roy Yamaguchi, Adam Gertler, Alejandra Schrader and Mark Peel will be there.

Here are some of the highlights of the Festival:

On Friday, March 23rd between 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. there will be a four-course gourmet luncheon hosted by several James Beard Award Winning Chefs. Lunch will feature “tastes of the world” recipes by Sara Moulton, Jimmy Schmidt and Hallie Harron. Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine: Global Wine and Food Events

The Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine Program is a series of Global Food and Wine Events. These culinary weekend workshops are available at Park Hyatt hotels. Park Hyatt chefs and sommeliers lead masters-in-training  quarterly classes. Park Hyatt Masters events take place on the following dates:  January 13-15; March 23-25; June 22-24 and September 21-23, 2012.

Here’s how it works. The Park Hyatt chefs and sommeliers lead masters-in-training seminars in different types of

“hands-on courses” on the designated day:

Cancun Riviera Maya Food and Wine Festival 2012: “Taste the New World”

Mexico has 27 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Many of them are in the Mayan regions of Campeche, Chiapas, Tabasco, Quintana Roo and Yucatan. UNESCO recently recognized Mexican cuisine and the regional cuisine of Michoacán as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.”

The “Taste the New World” Food and Wine Festival in Cancun is dedicated to “celebrating the best of North-America, Mexico and South America, with some 30 star chefs invited from Canada, the USA, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru to delight the gourmands and gourmets of the world.”  Innovative Star Chefs of the Americas from 7 countries including Montreal, Canada and Lima, Peru will celebrate celebrates Mexican gastronomy and cuisine by participating in the Cancun Riviera Maya Wine Festival 2012  between March 15-18, 2012.

This Vino con Vista extravaganza will take place on the azur beaches of Cancun. There will be over 30 innovative events for wine enthusiasts and gourmands surrounded by the exciting nightlife and culture of Cancun. Mexico.
